Four men shot in gang-related violence in Seawinds and Manenberg

Police investigate the scene of a tragic shooting incident linked to gang violence in Seawinds, where two men were shot early Thursday morning.

Four men have been shot, with three killed and one left wounded in two different communities on Thursday morning.

Police were called to the first scene along St Patrick Street in Seawinds where two males were shot, leaving one deceased in what is believed to be linked to gang violence.

Police spokesperson, Captain FC Van Wyk explained what transpired: “Muizenberg police registered a murder and an attempted murder case for investigation following a shooting incident at a premises in St Patrick Street, Seawinds early this morning at 5.45am

“Police members were called to the crime scene as mentioned where they found a male with gunshot wounds to his body, another male aged 24 who sustained a gunshot wound to his head was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. 

“The victim was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel.

 “The motive for this incident is believed to be gang related. The suspects fled the scene and are yet to be arrested.”

 At the second scene in Thames Walk, Manenberg, where images and videos of the crime scene were shared on social media, the men could be seen inside a vehicle riddled with bullets.

One of the men lay slumped over the seat.

Van Wyk added that the victims, who were both in their fifties, were declared dead at the scene.

“Manenberg  police registered two counts of murder following a shooting early this morning, January 15, at 7am in Thames Avenue, Manenberg in which two males aged 50 and 53 were shot and fatally wounded,” he detailed.

Both sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body. Circumstances surrounding this shooting incident are under investigation.

The motive for the attack forms part of the police investigation. The suspect/s fled the scene and are yet to be arrested.
