Police hit back at drug dealers in Heideveld and Manenberg on Wednesday, hauling in three suspects and more than 700 mandrax tablets in a string of rapid-fire busts.
Officers from Operation Shanela II stormed two homes in Zuurberg Street, Heideveld, where they seized mandrax and cash and put two suspects in handcuffs.
At the first house, officers uncovered 650 mandrax tablets and an undisclosed amount of cash. A 50-year-old woman was arrested on the spot.
A second search in the same street turned up 40 mandrax tablets, leading to the arrest of a 21-year-old man.
Police then moved to Manenberg after receiving a tip-off about a dealer operating in the area. Officers tracked down a suspect matching the description.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg said: “They searched the male and found 30 mandrax tablets in his possession.”
The 27-year-old was arrested and now faces drug possession charges.
All three suspects were expected to appear in the Athlone Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.
