Fisherman shot during violent car hijacking at Strandfontein Beach

A fisherman is recovering in hospital after being shot during a violent car hijacking at Strandfontein Beach. The victim and his friend were targeted by armed criminals who fled with the vehicle.
Jody Rademeyer and his friend were at the Beach between 1am and 2am on Tuesday morning when the incident occurred.
According to reports, the friend was waiting for Rademeyer while sitting in a Toyota Corolla, a black VW Polo pulled up next to the vehicle. Four suspects got out of the vehicle and robbed him.
While running for help and attempting to fight off the suspects, Rademeyer, who had also arrived at the scene, sustained wounds in the head, neck and chest.
Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk said that Muizenberg police are investigating an attempted murder and carjacking case following the incident.
Van Wyk reports: “According to reports, the complainant was sitting in his car waiting for his friend when he saw a black VW Polo pulled up next to him.
“Four unidentified males get out and rob him. The suspects were armed with firearms, they shot his friend (Rademeyer) at the side of his head, and drove off with his car, a red Toyota Corolla.”
He added that the motive for the attack is believed to be robbery.
The local Community Policing Forum (CPF) was also contacted but have yet to respond to queries.
