Celebrated jazz guitarist Cameron Ward from Lotus River, has released his new single, "Guitar Groove," a feel-good track for the Festive Season. With its infectious rhythm, the song is set to be a holiday favourite.
Influenced by jazz greats Wes Montgomery, George Benson, Dr. Jonathan Butler and Jimmy Dludlu, Ward's journey into music began in Lotus River, where he still resides today. He was raised by a single mother who shielded him from the lure of street gangs through the grounding presence of church.
Ward first took up the drums at the Pentecostal Protestant Church in Ottery at the age of six. His mother later enrolled him in music school, where he studied piano before forming a family band.
It was there that Ward picked up the guitar, the only instrument left unclaimed, and discovered the passion that would define his career.
"Little did I know that my love for guitar would grow," he said. Today, Ward is not only recognised for his artistry, but also for the resilience and faith that shaped his path. He is married and a proud father of three daughters.
Ward shares his inspiration behind his new single: "I wanted to release a song for summer this year and decided I wasn't letting the idea slip again. This song speaks about my guitar, and the impact it has on me and my audience. It's simply a track for people to enjoy this Festive Season, and beyond."
Blending his celebrated jazz guitar prowess with the percussive textures of Amapiano, Guitar Groove is a fresh and accessible offering that foregrounds Ward's improvisational sensibility while staying dancefloor friendly.

The track's playful riffs and rhythmic drive showcase how guitar can shine within Amapiano's groove, a bold twist that honours jazz musicianship while inviting audiences to move. Adding to the track's warmth and vibrancy are vocals by Jerusha Ward, Ward's daughter, whose soulful delivery brings a personal and celebratory dimension to the single.
Her contribution deepens the emotional resonance and enriches the festive spirit, making Guitar Groove a true family affair. Whether at a braai, beach party, or night out, listeners are encouraged to embrace the joy and make this track their summer anthem. Guitar Groove will be available across all major streaming platforms from December.
