Cunning ATM robbers escape with cash in Lwandle, police appeal for information

Police are on the hunt for ATM robbers after cunning criminals made off with undisclosed amount of cash in Lwandle.

SAPS detectives are seeking the assistance of the public to trace suspects who robbed the cash machine at Nomzamo Business centre in Lwandle on Sunday 16 November. 

The suspect smuggled himself through the roof of the building, damaged the top of the ATM and cut open the safe, before making a getaway. 

Constable Ndakhe Gwala said: “Anyone with information regarding this incident or who can assist with the investigation is kindly requested to contact the investigating officer Detective Sergeant Vernando Mitchell on 021 845 2060, alternatively call Crime Stop on 08600 10111.”

Meanwhile, police officers nabbed two suspects for drugs in Manenberg. 

Gwala reported: On Sunday afternoon, November 16, Operation Shanela II members deployed in Manenberg followed information they received of drugs concealed at an address in Elsieskraal Road, Manenberg. 

“They searched the premises and found 150 mandrax tablets and 183 small sachets containing crystal meth. A 39-year-old male suspect was arrested  for possession of drugs.

“Furthermore, the same members proceeded to another house in the same street where they arrested a 22-year-old male who had  mandrax tablets and eight packets of crystal meth at his premises.”

In an unrelated incident, members of the Anti-Gang Unit confiscated a firearm in Voorbrug, Delft after conducting an intelligence driven operation.

Upon arrival at a residence in Remhoogte Street, Voorbrug, they found a black 9mm pistol and 24 rounds of ammunition hidden in a shoebox.

Delft SAPS opened an enquiry docket for further investigation.
