A 22-year-old woman has been murdered inside her Echo Road home in Fish Hoek during a house robbery.

Authorities have urged the public not to speculate online, warning that unverified posts could hinder the investigation.

SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg confirmed a murder case has been registered following the incident on Friday, November 7: “Fish Hoek police registered a murder case for investigation after a 22-old-year female was found with injuries to her body in her place of residence in Echo Street, Fish Hoek on Friday morning, November 7 2025. The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation and arrests are yet to be made.

"Anyone with any information about this incident can contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or use the mobile application MySAPS anonymously."

The Fish Hoek Community Policing Forum (CPF) together with the police via social media said it was deeply saddened to confirm that a serious house robbery occurred, resulting in a tragic death.

CPF chairman Andre Blom expressed condolences to the victim’s family and friends. He also reminded residents not to post or share details on social media and asked non-residents to avoid the area. “An official update will be shared by the Fish Hoek CPF once verified information becomes available,” he said.

While historically regarded as one of the safer areas in the Cape Peninsula, Fish Hoek is showing signs of increasing property‑crime pressures. The local CPF reports that criminal activity “can occur at any time” and specifically warns that after‑hours roadways, parking areas and less‑populated backstreets (for example near the train station, kiosks, taxi‑ranks and bank‑malls) should not be taken for granted.
