The family of Mogamat Yusuf Daniel, who was shot and killed a week before his wedding, want justice after one of the accused’s bid for bail was postponed.
Morte Nelson was expected to apply for bail at the Wynberg Magistrates Court on Tuesday, but heard her co-accused, Monray Martin, is still in hospital under police guard.
The pair faces charges of murder relating to the death of Daniels, who was shot on September 24 after he was set up in a Facebook Marketplace scam.
Daniels planned to sell the phone for funds for his wedding day the following week.
At the time of the incident, two girls contacted him and arranged to meet Mogamat Yusuf at a garage in Ottery, however things took a turn for the worst.
The court heard that Nelson could not proceed with her application as her lawyer needed to take financial instructions.
Meanwhile, Martin has since been hospitalised after being shot during the incident.
Daniels’s uncle Abduragman Jacobs said the third suspect is on the run and claimed that there is also a fourth suspect, who was the driver of the getaway car.
Jacobs said: “They can’t find the driver, because they won’t give the driver up. “Nelson should be kept in custody and not be given bail, because Martin is still in hospital and another one is on the run and cops are looking for her.
“They can’t give her bail. There is a man that is dead, and what if Nelson comes out, what will happen then? As long as the other girl is not caught, they mustn’t give bail to the one girl that they have.”
