Alleged gangster's wife dies after shooting at Surrey Estate garage

A brazen shooting in Surrey Estate has led to the death of an alleged Hard Livings gangster's wife.

Levern Davids was in the passenger seat while her husband, known as Corky or Mr Davids, was the driver of their vehicle.

The couple came under attack while they were driving through an Engen garage in Surrey Estate on Friday evening.

The attack was caught on CCTV camera and a video circulating on social media shows how the couple drove through the service station when two unknown gunmen ran up behind their moving Audi A3.

The suspects fired several shots into the passenger window and fled as the car sped off.

It was reported that Corkie was shot in the upper body while Levern was shot in the stomach. 

The couple transported themselves to a nearby hospital.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg said Manenberg police have registered two counts of attempted murder following the shooting incident.

Twigg confirmed: “On Friday night, October 24, at about 8.50pm, at a petrol station in Ruimte Road, Primrose Park, two adult victims were shot and wounded. 

“The victims were transported to a medical facility for treatment. The motive for the attack is yet to be determined.”

The suspects are yet to be arrested.

It was later confirmed that following Levern's passing on October, 25 the charges have changed to one count of murder and one count of attempted murder.

Cape Argus' sister newspaper, the Daily Voice reached out to the local community policing forum for comment on the shooting but did not respond by deadline.
