Allegations of sexual misconduct at Eastville Primary School spark outrage

Authorities investigate allegations of sexual misconduct involving a school volunteer at Eastville Primary School.

A case of crimen injuria has been filed against a member of the School Governing Body (SGB) and volunteer at Eastville Primary School in Mitchells Plain. 

The allegations involve the individual reportedly exposing herself to students and making inappropriate comments about their private parts. Additionally, she is accused of providing sexual education in an inappropriate manner by teaching a song related to the subject.

A voice note by a staff member at the school expressing her shock and disgust was shared widely on Friday.

The matter has since been reported to the police and the Western Cape Education Department (WCED for investigation).

The voice note stated: “Putting her vagina into **** face.

“Showing her bra to my children

“Going to  ****  and making her  a factor and saying she does not wear a bra because tits are too small. There is a group of parents coming tomorrow to school for this matter, my phone is blowing up on this...all the parents are saying the exact same thing.

“The sex talk she had, the song, F*** me, F*** me song that she made up for them to sing.

“She was teaching them about sex and how her husband has sex with her.

“My children do not know of these things.

“I have never spoken to my children of such things, I am so disgusted, I am heartbroken, I am so saddened.”

Millicent Merton of the WCED said the matter was being probed "A complaint about a SGB member who also volunteers at the school has been reported on Friday and is being investigated.

The allegations are concerning and counselling support will be made available for any affected learners.”

Police spokesperson, Sergeant Wesley Twigg explained that the matter was under investigation.

In response to your media enquiry kindly be advised that Mitchells Plain SAPS registered a crimen injuria case involving a schoolteacher at a primary school in Mitchells Plain.  The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation and no arrests have been made yet.”

Community leader and activist, Philadelphia Hartzenberg told Cape Argus parents were outraged and were rallying to protest outside of the school.

“There has been a case made, we are calling every media house to be present at the school,” Hartzenberg said.

Just two weeks ago, a Swellendam teacher who is a prominent figure in his community and in the realm of entertainment, together with his friend are facing a charge of statutory rape relating to two young boys aged 15 and 16.

The case comes in the wake of the Education Labour Relations (ELRC) revealing that for the current financial year  April 1 to date, it received six cases of alleged sexual misconduct in the Western Cape involving educators.

A former Harvester Primary School teacher accused of sexual grooming of a child and exposing a child to explicit material made her latest appearance at the Mitchells Plain Magistrates’ Court on Friday where the state indicated that the matter was ready for trial in January 2026.
