A double murder has rocked Steenberg following an attack on four people.

Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk reported Steenberg police registered two counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder.
Two others aged 35 (male) and 42 (female) were injured during the shooting when unknown gunmen entered the premises and opened fire on the victims.
Van Wyk said: “According to reports, SAPS members received a complaint of a shooting incident at the mentioned address and on arrival found the bodies of the two deceased with multiple gunshot wounds to their bodies. The two injured victims were transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
“It is alleged that a white vehicle stopped and three unidentified men got out and entered the gate and started shooting at the occupants.
“The motive is believed to be gang-related.”
However, the Chairperson of the Cape Flats Safety Forum, Abie Isaacs said the South African National Defence Force should be deployed to eradicate the continued gun violence on the street.
“We as the Cape Flats Safety Forum are concerned with again an escalation in gun violence in the last 48 hours on the Cape Flats. This comes on the backdrop, just on Thursday the safer season plan was launched in the Western Cape on a further background where acting Minister came to report back to certain groups on the plan to deal with urban terror yet gun violence still continue unabated
"We continue to call for Special probe to be set up. Deployment of SANDF as a force multiplier to Saps as we move into the festive period 2025/2026.”
