Body at Salt River mortuary confirmed to be that of businessman Roger Brijlal

Cape Town businessman Roger Brijlal, who was kidnapped earlier this month, has been confirmed as the unidentified body found at Salt River mortuary.

The Albatross Group of Companies, which he founded, announced the tragic news on Thursday, describing Brijlal as a passionate and committed leader whose contributions were vital to the organisation.

“It is with profound sadness that we can confirm the passing of our esteemed founder, Mr Roger Brijlal, who departed on September 16.

Roger was a visionary leader and a dedicated individual whose contributions to Albatross were instrumental in shaping the organization’s identity and mission.

His commitment to excellence and passion for innovation left a lasting impact on our community.

Roger’s legacy will continue to inspire us. We will cherish his memory and strive to honour his contributions through our ongoing work and commitment to the values he embodied.”

They also extended their condolences to his fiancé and his three daughters and relatives stating that details for his funeral would be communicated.

Cape Argus has since learnt that his body was positively identified by his family.

This week IOL reported that police had been informed about an unidentified body at the Salt River Mortuary.

Police spokesperson, Sergeant Wesley Twigg explained that the kidnapping case was in the hands of the Provincial Organised Crime Investigation, Anti-Kidnapping task team

Brijlal, 59, was last seen on September 9, after leaving his Milnerton home for work.

His vehicle was found abandoned in Joe Slovo later that day.

When Brijlal failed to answer calls from his family and work colleagues, a case was opened with the police.
