Operation Dudula leads to drug bust in Summer Greens
A 49-year-old woman from Summer Greens has been arrested for dealing drugs after a shipment of mandrax tablets, crystal meth, cocaine and cash were found during a search by Operation Dudula.
Operation Dudula members said they were called to the house in Summer Greens by the landlady to remove a tenant who not paying rent and refused to move out.
Onke Mshibe said: “We got a call from a landlady who requested our help. She was renting the house in Summer Greens to a Nigerian woman. She managed to get the house sold but the tenant refused to move out.
"We went to the house to remove the tenant and as we were throwing out her clothes and belongings, we came across different types of drugs including mandrax, tik, cocaine and sums of money.
"It seemed like they were cooking the drugs there because there were pots with what seemed like cocaine and there were cigarettes. We contacted the police to assist us and arrest the woman."
Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg confirmed that the 49-year-old woman was arrested for dealing in drugs and will make her first appearance at the Athlone Magistrates Court on Monday.
Twigg reported: “Members of Maitland Flying Squad responded to a complaint about drugs that is at a premises in Summer Greens on Saturday, September 13.
"Upon searching the premises the members found a consignment of mandrax tablets, crystal meth, cocaine and an undisclosed amount of cash hidden in different compartments in the house. A 49-yea-old female was arrested for dealing in drugs.”
