The Directorate of Priority Crime Investigation, the Hawks are appealing to the public to assist in tracing a “person of interest” in the murders of the alleged Cape gang boss and his associate who were abducted by Colombian Cartels asking a ransom demand of R50 million.

More than a year since the murders of Peter Jaggers and William Raymond Peterson, the Hawks said they were in possession of vital evidence, CCTV footage of a male person last seen with the men after they landed at O.R Tambo International airport in Gauteng.

Jaggers, from Kriefgat in Cape Town, had allegedly stolen R1 billion worth of cocaine and rumours spread that he had been killed by the cartels.

Jaggers, an alleged Terrible Josters gang boss, was last seen on July 4 at the Emperor's Hotel in Gauteng and was attending a meeting with Peterson when they were kidnapped.

Their decomposing bodies were found months later in a dam in the Free State and they were tied with chains.

Warrant Officer Thatohatsi Mavimbela of the Hawks said they were seeking information on the man caught on CCTV footage.

“A case of kidnapping was registered at Bishop Lavis in Cape Town in July 2024 following the disappearance of the pair, this after landing at O.R Tambo International Airport from Cape Town,” he explained.

“It is believed that  after landing at the airport the pair headed to a nearby hotel where after checking in they were then picked up by an unknown male driving a grey Mercedes Benz. “The pair disappeared and were found murdered in a river in the Free State in October 2024. The case has since been transferred to the Hawks' in Gauteng.

“The Hawks' are seeking anyone with information on the whereabouts of the man in the picture attached, who is a person of interest, and was last seen with the pair before their disappearance.

“If you have information that can assist the police please contact Lt Col Jacobs on 082 319 9522.  Alternatively you can contact #CrimeStop on 08600 10111, or anonymously drop a tip off on the #MySAPSApp.”

Jaggers was allegedly linked to the missing vessel known as ‘The Berta Fishing Experience' which made headlines in March last year after six fishermen disappeared for several hours at sea. It was believed the men had run out of fuel.

Earlier, JP Smith, mayco member for Safety and Security, raised concerns about drugs at South African ports and said the missing vessel was used as a guise to transport drugs.

He said Jaggers, instead of transporting the cocaine, tried to keep it and then claimed the boat sank.
