A fifth suspect, Jordan Brandon Cullinghworth, 29, has been granted R120 000 bail after being arrested in connection with a cocaine syndicate.
The drugs were found hidden in a compartment of a vessel in Still Bay last year.
According to the Hawks, the Directorate of Priority Crime Investigation, Cullinghworth appeared briefly in the Riversdale Magistrates Court on Wednesday before being released on bail. He turned himself in at the Riversdale Police Station in George.
Cullinghworth is one of five suspects involved in a cocaine bust at Still Bay Harbour in July 2024.The other suspects are Alan Bushby, Marko Minic, Josip Ivanovic, and Marko Fourie. They face charges of dealing in drugs, with warrants executed by the Hawks and the South African Narcotics Enforcement Bureau (SANEB).
Hani said the group is alleged to have hidden the drugs inside the vessel.
In July 2024, members of the Still Bay SAPS received information about a suspected vessel (a rubber duck) in Still Bay Harbour. Following this tip-off, police, along with Cape Nature Reserve, stopped the vehicle towing the vessel after a chase. During the search, 14 bags containing suspected cocaine were found inside the vessel's compartments.
Police arrested two suspects, Alan Bushby and Marko Minic, who are still in custody. Josip Ivanovic appeared in court on February 13, and the case was remanded to Wednesday for further investigation. The group is expected back in court on June 2.
