A man accused of murdering a SANDF soldier and who is currently on trial in the Western Cape High Court has completed his own book about his experiences behind bars, which will be available virtually soon on sites such as Amazon and social media platforms.
Theodore Loggenberg and his co-accused Rashaad Collier, Nurudien Collier and one other, are facing a charge of murder.
The State is set to prove that the group murdered SANDF soldier, Sergeant Michael Njomane, who was hijacked and stabbed to death and his body placed inside the boot of his white Hyundai Accent in August 2019.
Njomane was deployed to Cape Town as part of a work-related operation which focused on combating crime and his vehicle was set alight along Silversands Road in Blue Downs.
Njomane’s body was discovered by firefighters after a delivery truck driver alerted police and took photographs while noticing four suspicious men at the scene.
Loggenberg, who is imprisoned at Pollsmoor Prison, spoke with the Cape Argus this week via correspondence, in which he detailed that his book was titled “Beyond the Chains”.
He said it is 39 pages long and 10 290 words.
He said it is expected to be self-published later this week as an ebook.
In a statement compiled for Loggenberg, he said besides the book, he was creating music behind bars.
“As I, Theodore Loggenberg, sit in my prison cell, I've found solace in creative expression. Despite the challenges, I've written a book, 'Beyond the Chains', that I'm eager to share with the world. This newsletter is a chance for me to connect with supporters and share my journey.
“I hope to inspire readers to find strength in their struggles, to hold onto hope, and to never give up on their dreams."
Myrtle Jack of the NPO God’s Angels Reaching Out Organisation, who has been Loggenberg’s counsellor for the past six years, said she was proud of him.

“He is also sending a message to people not to do crime as Pollsmoor Prison is not a place where you want to find yourself,” she said.
As Loggenberg is currently on trial, he is not able to discuss the case.
Loggenberg was the owner of Eyethu Civil Engineering Company, which was forced to close its doors after he was arrested.
