Police have arrested the boyfriend of a young woman whose body was found inside her wendy house in Valhalla Park following a domestic altercation the night before.
The 25-year-old woman, only identified as “Caitlin,” was found by a neighbour after her boyfriend left for work on March 12, just before 9am.
According to police, she sustained stab wounds to her body and a blunt force wound to the head.
Police spokesperson, Malcolm Pojie, said the neighbours heard a "commotion" the previous night and did not realise what was happening.
The 25-year-old boyfriend was arrested and is expected to make an appearance in the Bishop Lavis Magistrate's Court on a charge of murder, Pojie said.
“Bishop Lavis police opened a murder docket for further investigation following the death of a 25-year-old woman whose body was discovered by her neighbour on Wednesday at 8:50am, inside her wendy house in the back of a yard in Eight Avenue, Valhalla Park, Bishop Lavis.
“The deceased sustained stab wounds to the body and a blunt force wound to the head.
“Preliminary investigation indicates that witnesses heard a commotion at the wendy house during the course of the night, but did not realise that it was this serious.
"Further investigation led to the arrest of a 25-year-old man who faces a charge of murder.
“He is scheduled to appear in the Bishop Lavis Magistrate's Court once charged," said Pojie.
