Dead body of metro police officer found in Malibu village, Blue Downs

Cape Town - The body of 51-year-old metro police officer, Henry Jacobs, was found on a field in Malibu Village, Blue Downs, by residents on Tuesday morning.
His death has devastated his wife, Gail Jacobs (inset) and their three children.
Metro police chief Wayne le Roux confirmed that an off-duty officer died on Tuesday morning.
“The circumstances are under investigation by the police. The City extends its deepest condolences to the officer’s family during this very difficult time of bereavement,” he said.
Voice trembling, Jacob’s wife said she last saw her husband on Monday night when he left for Shoprite to withdraw some money and get groceries. She then woke up on Tuesday morning to discover he had not come home.
However, this was not immediately alarming as he sometimes went to visit their family that stayed at the back of their house.
Later that morning, Jacobs said she got calls from people in the community to inform her that her husband had died but she refused to believe them. When she arrived at the scene, she said there was blood streaking down the road from his body and he had been beaten.
She said her husband had struggled with depression and had just been discharged from Crescent Clinic on Saturday, a few short days before his unfortunate passing.
They had recently moved to the area and on Monday night spoke about all their plans, their children and how important it was for them to finish school.
Jacobs said the cause of death was still unclear, it could have been a heart attack but forensic specialists still had to confirm. After being married for 22 years, Jacobs was inconsolable and distraught by her husband’s passing.
Police spokesperson Ndakhe Gwala said Kleinvlei police station had registered an inquest docket after the body was found on Tuesday morning.
Gwala said the dead man was a member of law-enforcement and an investigation was under way.
