Charges against right-winger dropped

Bloemfontein - The State withdrew all charges against one of four alleged right-wing plotters in the Bloemfontein Magistrate's Court on Friday.
Magistrate Andries Schoeman told Hein Boonzaaier, 50, of Centurion, he was excused from any further court proceedings.
Boonzaaier was one of four men arrested in December last year for allegedly planning to assassinate senior ANC leaders in Mangaung.
Boonzaaier was out on bail of R80 000 until Friday.
Speaking outside the court, Boonzaaier said he was relieved that all charges were withdrawn.
“Legal experts could from the outset not understand why I was arrested.”
The financial consultant said due to his arrest he now had to build his life and career from scratch.
Boonzaaier said previously even the State was a client of his.
“If you Google my name now, see what you get. It's only Hein Boonzaaier the alleged bomb planter, etc. My life is a blank now.”
He said he had never before met two of the accused in the case.
“I hope the best for them.”
Boonzaaier, who was president of the Federal Freedom Party (FFP) before his arrest, said he would not take up the position again.
The FFP appointed Barend Pienaar as acting president following the temporary suspension of Boonzaaier earlier.
On Friday, he appeared with Johan Prinsloo, Mark Trollip, and Martin Keevy, when charges against him were withdrawn.
The trial of Prinsloo and Trollip would get underway in the Bloemfontein High Court on November 4.
Keevy was referred back to the Free State Psychiatric Centre in Bloemfontein for a 30-day observation.
