Jetour, a subsidiary of the Chery Group, arrived in South Africa in September 2024 and has steadily been making a mark on the sales charts and on the road.

With three distinct SUV lines now on sale – Dashing, X70 Plus and the more rugged T-Series – the brand has quietly pushed its way into the country’s top-10 best-selling manufacturers.

It’s not rocket science to see why with generous standard equipment, decent warranties, competitive pricing and a growing dealer footprint.

But with several models and trim levels now available, it’s worth breaking down the range to see which Jetour fits which buyer.

The Dashing is Jetour’s entry point.

Jetour Dashing

The Dashing is Jetour’s entry point and is a five-seater aimed at urban buyers who want something that looks modern without pushing into premium pricing territory.

The styling leans towards a coupe-like profile with split LED headlights, while the cabin is clean and digital, centred around a wide infotainment display and minimalist switchgear. Power comes from a turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine producing 115kW and 230Nm, paired to a six-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Standard tech includes Bluetooth connectivity, voice control and remote engine start. Safety equipment includes stability control, traction control, hill-hold and descent control, tyre pressure monitoring and ISOFIX mounts.

Four airbags are standard, while the higher-spec model adds side-curtain airbags.

The Deluxe model brings a more premium feel with a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, a 360-degree camera system and additional driver-assistance features.

Pricing

  • Dashing Momentum: R439 900.
  • Dashing Deluxe: R469 900.

The X70 Plus is a seven-seat SUV designed with family use in mind.

Jetour X70 Plus

Sitting above the Dashing is the X70 Plus, a seven-seat SUV designed with family use in mind. It shares much of its mechanical package with the Dashing but offers more interior space and a more substantial road presence.

Exterior styling is bolder, with a large grille, elongated LED headlights and quad exhaust outlets at the rear. Inside, flexible seating and load space, along with ambient lighting and contrast stitching adds some visual differences.

The 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine and six-speed dual-clutch gearbox carry over, but equipment levels are up.

Standard features include 19-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry, rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera system, a 10.25-inch infotainment screen, wireless phone charging, automatic LED headlights, an electric tailgate and a six-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat.

The Deluxe version adds extra airbags, a panoramic glass sunroof, rain-sensing wipers and an upgraded sound system.

Pricing

  • X70 Plus Momentum: R454 900.
  • X70 Plus Deluxe: R484 900.

The Jetour T1 is the more compact of the T-Series.

Jetour T1

The T-Series moves into the rugged, lifestyle-oriented territory. The T1 is the more compact of the two and is offered in four variants, ranging from front-wheel drive to fully-fledged four-wheel drive.

All T1 models come standard with 540-degree panoramic cameras, rear parking sensors, tyre pressure monitors and full LED lighting. Roof rails, heated electric mirrors and privacy glass are also included across the range.

Engine options include a 1.5-litre turbo petrol producing 125kW and a stronger 2.0-litre turbo petrol with 180kW, both paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The Xplora and Odyssey models add Jetour’s XWD four-wheel-drive system, higher ground clearance and eight selectable drive modes for off-road use.

Inside, the focus is on comfort and tech, with a quiet cabin, broad infotainment display and seats designed for long stints behind the wheel.

Pricing

  • T1 Edge (1.5TD 2WD): R514 900.
  • T1 Aspire (1.5TD 2WD): R544 900.
  • T1 Xplora (2.0TD 4WD): R594 900.
  • T1 Odyssey (2.0TD 4WD): R634 900.

Jetour T2

The T2 takes the T-Series concept a step further, with more serious off-road credentials and a tougher overall stance in three variants.

As with the T1, safety and convenience features are standard across the range. These include 540-degree cameras, tyre pressure monitor, rear parking sensors and LED lighting throughout. Heated, electrically adjustable mirrors, roof rails, privacy glass and illuminated door sills round out the package.

The line-up starts with a front-wheel-drive 1.5-litre turbo petrol, while the Xplora and Odyssey models use the 2.0-litre turbo engine with four-wheel drive for improved off-road capability.

Pricing

  • T2 Aspire (1.5TD 2WD): R569 900.
  • T2 Xplora (2.0TD 4WD): R639 900.
  • T2 Odyssey (2.0TD 4WD): R679 900.

With its current spread of models, Jetour has covered most of the SUV market, from compact urban crossovers to family seven-seaters and adventure vehicles.

The pricing remains aggressive across the board, something that has curried favour with South African buyers.
