High risks, high rewards. That is the name of the game in Formula One. And no team is feeling that right now more than Aston Martin

The 2026 Formula One season has not even begun, yet the championship ambitions of Aston Martin F1 Team already appear to be hanging by a thread after a troubling pre season testing campaign.

What was supposed to be the dawn of a new era for the Silverstone based team has instead exposed a major flaw in their new car. Engineers have identified severe vibrations coming from the power unit as the central issue behind the team’s early struggles.

According to team insiders, the problem originates from the new Honda engine package integrated into the AMR26.

“The vibration is the biggest problem we are facing at the moment,” a team representative explained. “It is travelling through the entire chassis and affecting several critical components.”

The shaking has proven so violent that it has begun damaging sensitive internal systems. The battery unit in particular has been heavily affected, forcing the team to dramatically cut back on their running during testing.

“The vibration has been strong enough to impact the battery system,” the team admitted. “That obviously limits how long we can run the car and gather meaningful data.”

For drivers Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll the experience behind the wheel has been equally concerning. The vibrations travel through the steering wheel and into the drivers’ hands, making longer runs extremely uncomfortable.

“It is very aggressive through the steering,” one team source revealed. “The drivers start to feel it in their hands after a number of laps, which is something we clearly have to resolve.”

Rumours that Ferrari might be top gun this season is slowly materialising. This, after both Ferraris put up a solid display during practice ahead of the season-opening Australian Grand Prix.

Expectations were already high following a promising winter for Scuderia Ferrari, and the Italian outfit wasted no time reinforcing that narrative during the opening practice session at the Albert Park Circuit.

In Free Practice 1 for the 2026 Australian Grand Prix, Charles Leclerc set the benchmark with a lap of 1:20.267, comfortably topping the session and putting early pressure on the rest of the grid.

Close behind him was Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton, who finished 0.469 seconds adrift of his teammate to make it a commanding Ferrari one-two.

Behind the scarlet cars came the familiar threat of Max Verstappen in third for Red Bull Racing. Youngsters also impressed early, with Isack Hadjar placing fourth and rookie Arvid Lindblad rounding out the top five.
