While Laconco’s approach is extreme for some, beauty experts say that there are practical ways anyone can improve their skin health. Here are some expert-backed tips:
- Stay hydrated: Drinking at least eight glasses of water a day helps flush out toxins and maintain skin elasticity. Dermatologists note that hydration supports a natural glow and reduces dryness.
- Use sunscreen daily: Exposure to UV rays can cause premature ageing, dark spots and acne scarring. Experts recommend applying a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher every day, even on cloudy days.
- Follow a consistent skincare routine: Cleanse, moisturise and exfoliate appropriately for your skin type.
- Eat a balanced diet: Foods rich in vitamins A, C and E, as well as omega-3 fatty acids, support skin repair and reduce inflammation. Experts suggest including fruits, vegetables, nuts and fish regularly.
- Manage stress: Stress triggers hormones that can worsen acne and other skin conditions. Yoga, meditation and regular exercise can help maintain both skin and mental health.
- Get enough sleep: Skin repairs itself during deep sleep stages. Aim for seven to nine hours of rest per night to prevent dullness and breakouts.
