South Africa loves love, but more than that, it knows how to celebrate love. With negative news constantly flooding our screens, sometimes a feel-good story is exactly what the doctor ordered.

Aqib Bux, a Johannesburg-based professional known for his lifestyle and relationship content, and Laiqah Naidoo are the couple at the centre of a surprise engagement that has been doing the rounds online, for all the right reasons.

What started as a carefully planned romantic getaway quickly unfolded into a day full of intention.  Naidoo spent it in white, moving through beach walks and thoughtful surprises arranged by bae.

The proposal happened at Maidens Cove tidal pool in Cape Town, and sis, obviously, said yes. People around the couple responded immediately, clapping and cheering as the moment unfolded in a public space.

It was giving romcom energy in real-life, where strangers stop, watch, and somehow become part of the moment.

The reaction came from strangers who were present and witnessed the engagement taking place, turning it into a shared celebration. There was no performance around it, just a real-time response from people who happened to be there.
