MiCasa frontman J’Something and his wife Cordelia are celebrating their restaurant Artistry’s third birthday.
Artistry, located in the heart of Sandton, Johannesburg, has hosted numerous entertainment events and many people have indulged in their delicious meals.
The venue allows for multiple purposes, which is why most event organizers choose it, with a rooftop floor, which has a beautiful view of the sunset, and a theatre.
At the recent Schweppes brunch, J’Something and Coco, as she is popularly known, remarked on the joy of Artistry's success and how surprised they were that it had already been three years.
J’Something, real name João da Fonseca, took to Instagram to reflect on the milestone, remarking that this was one of the moments where words fail him.
Artistry was born from J’Something’s love of food, from sharing posts with his community, to now a whole experience that people get to enjoy.
“When I think back to the very first post I shared about food with my community 13 years ago… and fast forward to this moment… It’s hard to find words that feel big enough. @artistryjhb has become a really special part of my journey.
“As an artist, I’ve always understood how important community is. And I’ve always understood how powerful a platform can be when it’s used to bring people together around something meaningful,” shared J’Something, the dream behind Artistry.
“To create a platform where artists could share their stories… through music, comedy, visual art, film, and conversation. A space where people could gather to celebrate creativity. A space where culture could be expressed, documented, and preserved.
“Music changed my life. And I still believe deeply in its power… to lift spirits, to connect people, and to remind us who we are.”
Artistry has been a venue of choice for many artists, hosting performances, listening sessions, and music and comedy nights.
The musician called it a “privilege” to have had so many South African artists step onto the Artistry stage… to share their work, to be celebrated for it, and to leave their story behind in this
“Happy birthday, Artistry. Thank you to every single person who has been part of this journey in one way or another. Thank you to our incredible team who carry the vision with so much heart.
“Thank you to our partners who believe in what we are building and help us turn ideas into real experiences,” he wrote.
