As South Africa prepares to celebrate Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 10, actress and media personality Pearl Modiadie is reflecting on how motherhood has transformed her life.

The actress recently took to Instagram to share a heartfelt post about balancing motherhood, career ambitions and personal growth over the past five years.

Alongside a video documenting moments from her pregnancy journey and professional milestones, Modiadie opened up about embracing a new version of herself while raising her son.

“In honour of Mother’s Day this Sunday 🤍 I became a mother, but I never stopped becoming myself…( albeit a new version) I carried life and I continue building mine, with bigger dreams I still want to pursue and endless corners of the world I still wish to see.

"We’re 5 years in and a lot has changed, but I’ve gained a new perspective on what truly matters. Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms, bonus moms, stepmoms, grandmothers, mother figures, those longing to be moms, and the moms we carry in our hearts. 🤍 P.S : these are only recent career highlights, not a raw reflection of motherhood,” she said.

While many followers flooded the comments section with praise, some fans mistakenly assumed the actress was announcing another pregnancy.

One user, @dmphat, commented: “Another one would be great too.”

Modiadie quickly shut down the speculation with a witty response.

“@dmphat another TV show? Definitely! 💯.”

Modiadie shares a son, Olivier Lewatle, with her former partner, Nathaniel Oppenheimer.

The pair welcomed his arrival in September 2020 and, despite their separation, have continued co-parenting while occasionally sharing family moments on social media.

They have often been praised for maintaining a respectful and friendly relationship for the sake of their child.

When she is not working or sticking to a busy schedule, the “Law, Love and Betrayal” actress enjoys travelling and exploring new destinations, sometimes with her son.

Earlier this year, Modiadie enjoyed what she described as a “sweet safari escape” in the North West, where she visited Mbazo Safari Lodge and experienced a game drive at Pilanesberg National Park.

In 2024, she and Olivier also enjoyed a beach holiday in Zanzibar during the school holidays.

“School holidays 🏝️☀️ …on a sandbar in Zanzibar We also made new friends 🐒🐢🤩,” she said.
