It's the final countdown! This Saturday, 1 November, the iconic Maynardville Gardens will come alive with Heritage and Harmony - a spectacular, free celebration of South Africa’s heritage, culture, and unity.
Under the inspired direction of the acclaimed Basil Appollis, this one-night-only production promises an unforgettable showcase of music, dance, and storytelling - celebrating the rhythms and traditions that unite us all.
The evening will be hosted by the award-winning Jitsvinger (Quintin Goliath), whose lyrical insight and wit will guide audiences through a moving and joyful journey of South African identity.
Event organiser Azhar Salie said : “Heritage and Harmony is more than a performance — it’s a living celebration of who we are as South Africans. From the young Rieldancers of Clanwilliam to Ahneesh Valodia’s Taare Dance Troupe, the show brings together the full spectrum of our shared heritage, culture, and artistry.”
Audiences can look forward to breathtaking performances, including:
The evocative melodies of Professor Dizu Plaatjies and his marimba ensemble, joined by Hilton Schilder’s Goema band.
Soul-stirring performances by Xoliswa Tom, Siphesihle Mdena, Bradley van Sitters, and the Joyful Harmonies Choir.
Electrifying moments from Culture Shock’s Malay choir, Cape Minstrels, gumboot dancers, the Figure of 8 Dance Collective, and Mitchells Plain’s award-winning break dancers.
The celebrations begin with a lively cultural festival featuring local food vendors and artisans, setting the perfect tone for an evening of joy and togetherness.
Salie added: “Heritage and Harmony celebrates both tradition and innovation.
“It’s about pride, joy, and unity - and we can’t wait to share that spirit with everyone who joins us.”
