Cape Town is once again preparing to host the city's premier pop culture and gaming festival.
Now in its fourth year, Comic Con Cape Town is set to transform the Mother City into a vibrant hub for fans of cinema, animation, and gaming.
Event logistics and ticketing
Much like the "Big Bang Theory" generation that turned "geek" into the ultimate chic, thousands are descending on the Foreshore to find a sense of belonging that is as vital to mental health as it is to entertainment.
The festival will take place in Foreshore at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.
Running from Thursday, April 30, to Sunday, May 3, doors will be open daily from 9am to 6pm. If you haven't secured your entry yet, you’ll need to act fast.
While four-day passes have already sold out, a limited number of tickets are still available.
- Day pass: R230 - R250
- Super fan pass: R1,550 (exclusive to Capitec clients; includes two general access tickets for the same day).
What to expect:
The event is designed as an immersive experience, divided into the Pop Culture Hall, Experience Hall, and a dedicated outdoor area. Whether you’re hunting for rare collectables or perfecting your cosplay for the "Cosplay Central" stage, the urgency is real.
Get there early, stay curious, and immerse yourself in the Mzansi-style magic that makes this the most anticipated lifestyle event of the year. Attendees can look forward to:
- Artist Alley and Cosplay Central: A space to engage with local creators and world-class cosplayers.
- Gaming and e-sports: High-stakes tournaments, tabletop gaming, and the latest hardware showcases.
- Kidscon Zone: Specialised entertainment and activities for younger fans, making it a true family-friendly outing.
The 2026 guest line-up features a dynamic mix of international stars and influential local talent, including:
- Evanna Lynch: The British actress is famed for her role as Luna Lovegood in the Harry Potter series.
- John Romita Jr: Legendary Marvel Comics artist.
- Yaya Han: Renowned global cosplay icon and model.
- Local Spotlight: Zimbabwean creator Bill Masuku
- Acclaimed voice actor: Jason Liebrecht
Beyond the exhibits, Comic Con Cape Town serves as a vital gathering point for South Africa's diverse fandoms.
It offers a unique sense of belonging for pop culture aficionados, celebrating the creativity and passion that drive the industry forward.
