Lipizzaners in Constantia

The South African Lipizzaners are visiting Constantia Valley Riding Club for a family-friendly showcase of classical horsemanship.

These horses, known for their disciplined training and elegant movements, have a long tradition in South Africa, combining European classical techniques with local riding culture.

Visitors can see the Lipizzaners perform in carefully choreographed routines, highlighting the skill of both horse and rider.

The event offers a clear view of the discipline and training behind each movement, making it educational as well as entertaining.

It’s suitable for all ages, giving children and adults alike a chance to experience the horses up close and learn about the history and techniques of classical riding.

These horses carry decades of classical tradition, blending European technique with South African riding culture. With the performances set in an open, accessible venue, the day is structured around the horses’ routines, providing a safe and engaging environment for families.

When: Saturday, March 7, at 11.30pm.

The Loft

The Loft has returned to Cape Town to reaffirm its role as a guardian of the city’s deep house underground scene.

With line-ups designed to honour the groove, the event champions the slow build, tight percussion, and hypnotic rhythms that have defined South African house since the post-apartheid era.

House music in South Africa is a language of freedom, resistance and unity, rooted in township parties and community gatherings. As the global commercial house grows louder, spaces like The Loft provide a sanctuary where the original, soulful essence can breathe, keeping the culture alive and authentic.

The line-up features Soulfreakah, Fizz & Shai-A, Danideevine, Chef KD, and the co-founder Lonwabo “Man of Lemon” Mgoduso.

Where: The Hearty Collective at The Old Biscuit Mill in Woodstock.

When: Saturday, March 7, at 7.30pm.

SOOIBRAND

This is the latest theatrical offering from South African entertainer Nataniël, known for his long and varied career as a singer, songwriter, storyteller and performer.

In this show, he teams up with pianist Charl du Plessis in an intimate, music‑driven production that examines themes like discomfort, guilt, denial and everyday frustration with a mix of humour and empathy.

Nataniël’s style has always been equal parts storytelling and mischief, rooted in South African culture, where he’ll make you laugh, roll your eyes, and maybe even snort your drink out your nose.

Where: The Drostdy Theatre in Stellenbosch.

When: Runs until Sunday, March 8, at 3pm and 9pm.
