“The Real Housewives of Durban” reality star and media personality Nonkanyiso Conco, popularly known as LaConco, has opened up about her journey as the new host of Mzansi Wethu’s “Utatakho”.

She took to Instagram to reveal how the reality show has taken her on a wild ride of emotions and she shared her gratitude for the opportunity to be entrusted with hosting the show.

“God has entrusted me with this assignment once again. This show has taken me on an emotional journey I never knew existed.

“In some episodes, I felt a sense of relief like a child finally being soothed with sweetness. In others, it felt as though my heart was being carried by the relentless waves of the ocean.” she wrote.

Conco also expressed heartfelt gratitude to families who shared their stories on the show.

“To the families who opened their homes and shared their truth with me and crew, may the Lord continue to cover you as the nation bears witness to your painful realities and I trust that it was all worth it,” she said.

“Utatakho” returned for its ninth season on January 26, with LaConco stepping in as the new face of the show. She took over hosting duties from actor and presenter Nimrod Nkosi who previously hosted eight seasons of the show and became a familiar face to viewers over the years.

The reality show first premiered with Bonginkosi “Zola 7” Dlamini as its original host, leading the first eight episodes of season one before Nkosi took over from episode nine.

Over the years, the show has grown into one of Mzansi Magic’s most impactful reality programmes, tackling deeply personal stories that many families carry in silence.

“Utatakho” follows South Africans on a journey to uncover the truth about their biological fathers. The show often relies on DNA testing to provide long-awaited answers, offering both closure and confrontation as participants come face to face with who they are and where they come from.

The show took a pause in 2020 and has now marked a new chapter with its return. Under Conco’s guidance, “Utatakho” continues to walk alongside men and women as they navi gate the joy, heartbreak and healing that comes with discovering their truth.
