Remembering Chuck Norris: Martial arts champion and pop culture legend

Chuck Norris, the legendary martial artist and action star, passed away on March 19 at the age of 86. 

He had been hospitalised in Hawaii on Thursday, and his family confirmed his death the following morning. 

“While we would like to keep the circumstances private, please know that he was surrounded by his family and was at peace,” they said. 

They described his passing as sudden but requested privacy regarding the details.

Just nine days before his death, Norris celebrated his 86th birthday on March 10, sharing a video of himself sparring on social media, with the caption, "I don't age. I level up." 

Tributes immediately poured in from fellow actors like Sylvester Stallone and Jean-Claude Van Damme, as well as political figures, including Texas Governor Greg Abbott.

Before Hollywood, Norris made his mark as a six-time undefeated World Professional Middleweight Karate Champion. His first major screen role came in “The Way of the Dragon”, where he played the villain Colt.
