In a touching moment showcasing her enduring love and vibrant spirit, South African gqom musician Babes Wodumo (real name Bongekile Simelane) has taken to Instagram to remember her late husband, Mampintsha (real name Mandla Maphumulo).
Sharing a video on social media, Wodumo offered a glimpse into Mampintsha's joyful personality and his remarkable sense of humour.
In the clip, the Big Nuz musician is seen sitting at a local restaurant along Durban’s promenade, engaging in light-hearted banter with a friend.
During their conversation, Mampintsha playfully boasts about his driving skills, prompting laughter from his friend, who jokingly questions the musician's abilities.
The friend asked where he obtained his driver's licence, to which Mampintsha quipped, “Where did I get my licence? You’re joking, right? Do you want me to say I got it from my uncle? I got my licence from an Afrikaaner. You can only get a legitimate licence from an Afrikaaner.
"You can’t get one from a black person. I’m not that great on the road. I can spin a bus! In front of cops as well, and they won’t do anything to me. Don’t try me."
In her heartfelt caption, Babes wrote, ‘❤️🫶🏽Till the casket ⚰️ @mampintsha_shimora’, expressing her undying love for Mampintsha.
The post resonated with fans, eliciting a wave of comments from netizens.
Nonkanyiso ‘LaC’ Conco remarked, “That ‘don’t try me’ 😂😂. He is missed.”
Another user, @ouparation1990, added, “I miss this man's contribution to Durban music and his amazing vibe.”

Tragically, Mampintsha passed away two years ago on December 24 after suffering a stroke.
Since his passing, Wodumo has consistently expressed her love and remembrance for her late husband.
Wodumo and Mampintsha shared an eventful life, marked with artistic collaborations and personal challenges. Despite facing a rocky on-and-off relationship, their love prevailed through the years.
Mampintsha’s proposal on Gagasi FM's drive show in 2020 and their subsequent marriage in 2021 were highlights in their story, along with the joy of welcoming their son, affectionately nicknamed Spontsh or Sponge.
This tribute not only celebrates Mampintsha's life and humour but also underscores the deep bond he shared with Wodumo, a testament to their love that continues to resonate with fans.
