Advertising jocks are GQ’s best-dressed men

The annual top 10 GQ Best - Dressed Men of the Year 2013 awards were celebrated last night in their new Parktown home, Emoyeni.

Traditionally held at the Westcliff Hotel, this glamorous affair on the Joburg social calendar had to move because the five-star hotel is closed for renovations.

This year, GQ chose a far less heavy celebrity list.

Ogilvy & Mather’s chief executive, Abey Mokgwatsane, was the overall winner, with another advertising jock, Sergio Ines, in second place.

Third was talented actor, presenter and television producer Lungile Radu. He is best known for hosting music shows on Channel XO as well as for his role in e.tv’s popular youth soapie Rhythm City.

The bohemian Brett “Brr” Rogers was fourth, and Selimathunzi presenter Lunga Shabalala fifth.

A politician made a rare appearance on the list in the form of Mayihlome Tshwete, who was sixth.

Graphic designer and the co-founder of Father Coffee, Nicholas Christowitz, was seventh, while rapper Khuli Chana came eighth.

The brand manager for Markhams, Van-Lee Johnson, was ninth and comedian and actor Siv Ngesi clinched 10th place.

Pearl Thusi and hunky Maps Maponyane were the presenters. Grinning from ear to ear at yet another successful event was GQ editor Craig Tyson. Miss Cosmo provided the music.
