She suffered the humiliation of seeing her dreams of American stardom on the U.S edition of The X Factor dashed after just four days work. But now Cheryl Cole is poised to take sweet revenge on former friend Simon Cowell by appearing in a Hollywood film. The star, axed from the Cowell series at the end of May, is to make her film debut in a big budget movie alongside Hollywood superstars Cameron Diaz and Jennifer Lopez.
Cheryl, 28, will appear in What To Expect When You re Expecting, an adaptation of the successful pregnancy guide.
Mrs Cole, who is in advanced talks for a cameo role, will shoot her scenes later this month. And in what will be seen as a clear side-swipe at Cowell, Cheryl will play a TV talent show judge.
The film whose cast includes Dennis Quaid and Chris Rock, chronicles the lives of four couples as they prepare to become parents. Miss Diaz plays Jules, who auditions in an X Factor-style contest in front of Cheryl’s character. The Girls Aloud singer is said to have impressed Hollywood film bosses during a four-day appearance at the Cannes ilm Festival in May.
A film source says: “This is a bit of fun for Cheryl. She will film the scenes imminently and is really looking forward to it. It doesn’t mean she suddenly wants to become an actress. It was just an opportunity that has come up and she thought it would be great fun to take part.”
The role also represents a coup for Mrs Cole’s new manager, Will.i.am real name William Adams from U.S. band Black Eyed Peas.
Crucially, it will allow her all-important exposure in the U.S.
She became a household name here when she replaced Sharon Osbourne on The X Factor in
2009. Svengali Cowell then chose to take her overseas for the American launch of the programme.
However, their relationship seemed over when she was axed from the series although she had the solace of receiving her full £1.2 million fee.
Last night, a spokesman for Mrs Cole was unavailable for comment. - Daily Mail
