Alleged Durban Metro cop killers remain behind bars
Durban- The bail decision for three men who have been accused of killing two Durban Metro police officers in Phoenix has been set for next week Monday.
The announcement was made by magistrate Rajesh Parshotam at the Verulam Magistrates Court on Thursday.
Warrant Officer David Cele, who was the investigating officer had completed his testimony.
Cele had stated that he was against the three accused receiving bail.
Nkululeko Zuma, Musawenkosi Ndebele, Bonginkosi Msomi and Thamsanqa Mabaso had been initially charged with the murder of Sergeant Fanifami Dladla, 61, and Constable Sonto Emmelinall Mhlanga, 40.
However Zuma withdrew his bail application and Cele said Ndebele was not a flight risk as he had not been placed at the scene of where the murder happened.
The men have been remanded back Westville Correctional Services
In May, Dladla and Mhlanga were guarding the house of an eThekwini councillor when they were attacked and killed.
The murders elicited a public outcry with police minister Bheki Cele condemning the act and lamenting how police officers were being killed.
