KitKat is not giving up on finding its missing chocolate, with Nestlé now launching a public tracker to help locate the stolen shipment.
IOL previously reported that more than 400,000 KitKat bars, weighing around 12 tonnes, were stolen after a truck transporting the shipment disappeared while travelling from Italy to Poland. The vehicle and its cargo are still missing, with authorities still investigating the incident.
In a short post on X formerly (Twitter), the company said the incident was not a publicity stunt or an April Fool’s joke, but a real case of cargo theft, adding that it has launched a “Stolen KitKat Tracker” to help trace the missing chocolate.
The tracker works by asking customers to locate the eight-digit batch code on the back of their KitKat bar and enter it online. It then confirms whether the chocolate is from the stolen shipment, and if not, users are encouraged to share the tracker to help spread the search further.
"Thank you for your interest in the missing KitKats. But just to clarify, this is not a stunt or an April Fool's joke. Someone really stole 12 tonnes of KitKats, "the company said.
"And we really want to know where they've gone. So, we've created a Stolen KitKat Tracker that lets you check if your KitKat is from the missing batch".
