In a dazzling celebration of horse racing and fashion, See It Again, partnered with jockey Andrew Fortune, emerged victorious in the prestigious Gr 1 World Sports Betting Cape Town Met on Saturday, 31 January 2026. This year marked the 164th edition of the Met, a cornerstone of South Africa’s racing calendar, and for Fortune and See It Again, it was a day of redemption and achievement. The race also witnessed the remarkable feat of owner Nick Jonsson and trainer Justin Snaith, who recorded their fourth consecutive win in the event, each time with a different horse.
"I’ve come back from addiction, from where nobody wanted me to now, where I stand on the biggest stage. See It Again and I both have comeback stories, and this win has just been amazing for both of us,” Fortune shared, reflecting on his journey to this triumphant moment.
The day's excitement was not limited to the Met itself. The race card also featured another Grade 1 highlight, the Maine Chance Farms Majorca Stakes, drawing a strong field of elite thoroughbreds. With a R5 million stake at stake, the Met kept spectators on the edge of their seats.
Nothing beats that winning feeling.

Historically, barriers 1-5 have shown dominance in recent runs at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth, but in a stroke of luck, barrier 10 was the winning draw for See It Again. The live draw of the eleven-horse field added an intriguing layer of anticipation, held in a music-note themed event on 20 January.
Stephen Marshall, Marketing Events and Broadcasting for Race Coast, commended the impressive planning and atmosphere of this year’s Met: "The six months of planning and two weeks of build-up paid off - we’ve had an amazing vibe today with all the fashion, entertainment and hospitality, including food trucks, two stages, and an after-party featuring well-known performers like Arno Carstens from Springbok Nude Girls, Ross Learmonth from Prime Circle, and Kahn Morbee from The Parlotones, alongside DJ Kent and DBN Gogo.”

Off the track, the event embraced its theme, Symphony of Style, merging high fashion with elite racing and an engaging social atmosphere. Attendees revelled in the day’s thrills, which included a Best Dressed competition and a captivating performance by the Amaballet’s Amavengers, a dance troupe renowned for their unique blend of classical ballet, Amapiano beats, and street dance flair.
As part of the competition, Nina van Dina impressively took home the title of Best Interpretation of the theme Symphony of Style, while the Style Icon award went to Beaia Kgokong from Johannesburg. The Designers’ Choice award was captured by Sheara Murphy, and the Best Dressed Crew award was awarded to Kevin Ellis and Tracey Maltman, marking a notable comeback since their previous win in 2007. Each winner walked away with luxurious prizes, including a Fieldbar Mini Bar, a bottle of Johnnie Walker, and R3,000 in sports betting vouchers.
The after party, which pulsed with a blend of rock, house, and Amapiano music from renowned South African artists, delivered a memorable closing act to this electrifying day of racing. Ryno du Plessis, Group Chief Operating Officer at World Sports Betting, encapsulated the day’s essence: "It's been a great day with everybody having a fantastic time, interpreting the 'Symphony of Style' theme beautifully amid thrilling racing.”
The Cape Town Met has a storied history, dating back to its inauguration in 1883 as the Metropolitan Mile at Green Point Racecourse, evolving over the years into the current 2000m Gr 1 turf race that draws thousands of fans each year.
Whether participants were seasoned punters, fashion enthusiasts, or music lovers, the 2026 World Sports Betting Cape Town Met proved to be an unforgettable event blending racing, culture, and entertainment into one magnificent experience.
