The holiday spirit is palpable at Canal Walk, Cape Town's premier shopping destination, where a plethora of festive experiences await families looking to create cherished memories together. With the much-anticipated return of the Holiday Slides, inspired by Disney's beloved characters, alongside philanthropic initiatives, Canal Walk is set to shine brighter than ever this season.
Two slides, endless smiles
The annual Canal Walk Holiday Slides have returned, offering a blend of thrilling fun and joyful smiles for all who visit. This year, in partnership with Pep, the slides are themed around the playful world of Disney’s Lilo and Stitch. The two impressive slides promise endless excitement—Slide 626 delivers the rush of a dual-lane ice race, while the Akatoo-kee Slide provides a swift descent culminating in a gentle landing. For younger visitors, an engaging mini slide awaits alongside a snow play area and a kinetic sand zone, ensuring little hands stay busy and happy.
“We know families are looking for moments that feel carefree and full of joy,” comments Vanessa Herbst, Marketing Manager at Canal Walk. “The Holiday Slides have become one of our most anticipated attractions, and this year’s Disney-inspired theme adds something truly special. We want every child and parent visiting the centre to feel the excitement of the season from the moment they arrive.”

The Holiday Slides operate from 5 December 2025 to 11 January 2026 at Centre Court, offering an array of ticket options tailored for all ages. Families can benefit from early bird packages that provide great value. Tickets are available through Webtickets or at the on-site box office, with all sessions lasting 45 minutes and commencing on the hour. Notably, this is a cashless event.
Festive giving shines bright
The joy at Canal Walk extends beyond the thrill of the slides. A majestic, Stitch-themed Christmas tree stands tall in the Food Court, inviting visitors to partake in a charitable initiative supporting Reach for a Dream. Plush toys adorning this heartfelt installation will be gifted to young dreamers nurtured by the foundation. Guests can contribute via QR code donations or a coin spinner, and a R50 contribution enters them into a draw to win a 1.2 metre Mickey Mouse plush. Additionally, proceeds from plush toy sales at Toys R Us will support the foundation, with generous sponsorship from Pep, FNB, LEGO, and Toys R Us.
“Giving back is an important part of our festive programme,” Herbst adds. “Collaborating with Reach for a Dream creates an opportunity for our community to support children who need encouragement during a challenging time in their lives.”
Wrap with heart and help a child
Families can also look forward to meeting Santa, with his photo sessions running from 5 to 24 December, in addition to having gifts beautifully wrapped for charity. The gift-wrapping station, located opposite Checkers and Pick n Pay, will donate all proceeds to Reach for a Dream. Extended trading hours will further allow families extra time for shopping as Christmas approaches.
Canal Walk's Kids Club Express, available on the upper-level bridge, will offer even more entertainment options for children during the school holidays, completing the festive picture.
