Fuel prices set to decrease in South Africa from November 5, 2025
Good news for motorists as the fuel price is set to decrease.

In a significant boost for both motorists and businesses, the Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources (DMPR) has announced a comprehensive decrease in fuel prices effective from midnight on 5 November 2025. The adjustment comes as a welcome relief amidst mixed movements in fuel prices over the previous month, signalling a positive shift as South Africa gears up for the festive season.
Lebo Ramolahloane, the National Vice Chairperson of the South African Petroleum Retailers Association (SAPRA), highlighted the timing of this announcement as particularly beneficial for consumers planning their December journeys.
“As we approach the festive season and motorists begin planning their December trips, the fuel price cuts will bring welcome relief,” Ramolahloane said.
“Lower fuel costs are also encouraging news for commuters relying on public transport and for businesses across transport, agriculture, and logistics that are managing tight margins.”
The detailed fuel price adjustments include:
- Petrol:
- 93 ULP & LRP: Decrease of 51.00 c/litre
- 95 ULP & LRP: Decrease of 51.00 c/litre
- Diesel:
- 0.05% Sulphur: Decrease of 21.00 c/litre
- 0.005% Sulphur: Decrease of 19.00 c/litre
- Illuminating Paraffin:
- Wholesale: Decrease of 1.00 c/litre
- SMNRP: Decrease of 1.00 c/litre
- LPG: Maximum retail price: Decrease of 61.00 c/kg
Despite the positive outlook, Ramolahloane reminded stakeholders of the lingering volatility in global oil markets and the influence of currency fluctuations.
“This month fortunately saw Brent Crude oil fall to its lowest level in almost six months, with prices dropping to around the $61 mark during the period under review,” he said.
Experts believe that sustained stability in fuel prices is crucial for long-term planning and fostering consumer confidence.
SAPRA has committed to monitoring the situation closely, ensuring that motorists and the broader industry remain informed as they navigate through these changes.
