In a stunning showcase of skill and local expertise, Kommetjie surfer Roxy Davis has clinched the prestigious 2025 SA Masters Surfing Championships Over 35 Women's Title. This latest victory adds to her impressive collection of national titles, as she triumphed over seasoned competitor Heather Clark, with Tarryn King and Penny Stemmet securing the runner-up spots.

The event unfolded on the picturesque shores of Long Beach, where blustery conditions challenged the competitors. However, Davis, often seen riding the waves in her hometown, demonstrated an acute understanding of her local break, skillfully navigating through rough waters to secure a commanding heat total of 13.50 out of a maximum 20 points. Her tenacity and experience shone through, allowing her to find the most promising waves while expertly evading close-outs that hindered other surfers.

"Stoked with the win, it is always great to get a home break win, and especially with my husband and kids on the beach for support," Davis expressed joyfully after her victory. She extended her gratitude to the iLembe Surfriders for hosting the event, highlighting the importance of community support in making the competition a success.

The men’s Over 35 Final showcased the remarkable talents of defending champion Clinton Gravett, who produced an impressive performance. Gravett, a goofy-footer, thrived under the challenging conditions, managing to score a remarkable 7.00, followed by a staggering 9.17, which propelled him to a comfortable lead that he maintained throughout the competition. Despite a determined effort from Craig Johnson, who finished as runner-up, Gravett's waves were simply too strong to overcome. Geoffrey Greaves and Manfred Adrio rounded off the top four placements.

"I was just blessed to get waves in the final," Gravett said, reflecting on the pressures of defending his title. "I was very nervous going in for some reason. Last year was my first title, so this year was a bit more nerve-wracking to defend it, and I just took off on waves, and they stood up. Stoked to lift some trophies tonight. I didn't put my name on the trophy last year, so now I need to do it twice."
