To celebrate South Africa’s rich culture and heritage, the Century City Conference Centre (CCCC) hosted the Locally Inspired event, marking both Tourism Month and Heritage Month with flair and vibrancy. The gathering was a full immersion into the uniqueness of South African creativity, cuisine, and community collaboration, drawing in media, creatives, and food enthusiasts alike.
Guests were greeted with the warm, inviting smiles of the Bootlegger and CCCC teams, setting the tone for a truly South African experience. The event kicked off with an assortment of traditional treats such as koe’sisters and koeksisters, embodying the essence of local hospitality that makes South Africa so special.

Gary Koetser, the CEO of Century City Conference Centre and Hotels, emphasised the venue's role in showcasing local talent and culinary excellence. “Century City Conference Centre is not only an award-winning venue; it’s a living showcase of local art, food, and partnerships that define our unique identity. This event demonstrated how collaboration can strengthen communities, honour our heritage, and create experiences that truly stand out,” he said.

The afternoon was highlighted by two distinctive experiences celebrating South African heritage:
- Paint Masterclass with Fadiel Hermans: Hermans, a renowned artist, engaged guests in a paint masterclass, guiding them in creating a unique artwork that captured the iconic Signal Hill and the colourful houses of Bo-Kaap.
- Heritage Cuisine Tasting by Chef Abbas Abrahams: Abrahams, the executive chef, presented an array of locally inspired canapés, rich in tradition and storytelling. With more than four decades of experience in South Africa’s top hotels and restaurants, he showcased the nation’s culinary heritage, leaving guests with memorable dining experiences that invited further exploration of South African flavours.

Guests departed not just with new connections but also cherished tokens of culinary culture which included a jar of Abrahams' homemade blatjang, passed down from his mother, and hertzoggies, symbolising the love that goes into sharing a meal.
