On Sunday, 30 November, Killarney will transform into a vibrant gathering spot as bikers from across Southern Africa come together for the 43rd annual Cape Town Toy Run. Celebrated as one of the world's largest motorcycle charity events, the Toy Run has become a staple in the region, with roots extending back over four decades.
Since its inception in 1983, when a modest assembly of 76 motorcycles participated, the event has seen exponential growth. This year, organisers expect a staggering turnout of over 7,600 riders, each adorned with toys destined for underprivileged children across the Western Cape. The Toy Run serves as a beacon of hope for thousands of children in foster homes, orphanages, clinics, and grassroots daycare centres who might otherwise go without this festive joy.

Your entrance to this grand event isn't measured in cash, but rather in kindness. Attendees are invited to bring a toy—or toys—as their ticket to a day filled with live music, entertainment, and community connection. The spirit of the season shines through, as participants and onlookers alike join in celebrating generosity and giving.
Every toy, whether brand new or gently cherished, plays a crucial role in the mission of the Toy Run. Each year, children willingly part with their own beloved toys, offering them to those less fortunate. This tradition is not just about the gifts; it embodies a powerful movement that encourages empathy and compassion, lending a sense of special karma to the toys shared.
As the festivities unfold—complete with food stalls catering to every palate, a dedicated children's play area, as well as displays of magnificent motorcycles—there's something for everyone. Attendees can unwind while listening to live music, browsing market stalls offering bikewear and accessories. And for families, the Toy Run ensures that there’s fun and entertainment for young ones too, all thanks to the community’s efforts in putting this event together.

Originating from the Italian Motorcycle Owners Club, the Toy Run has transcended its roots, morphing into a collective community effort. It reflects the unity of diverse participants who come together primarily for the well-being of children in need. As the riders rev their engines and the community rallies around them, the 43rd annual Cape Town Toy Run stands as a testament to the incredible impact of kindness and the spirit of giving.
Join the ride this November 30, and make a difference in a child’s life while enjoying a day filled with camaraderie and festive cheer. Bring your toys, your family, and your friends, and be part of a tradition that continues to uplift the community.
