In an exhilarating development for motorsport fans, Boundless Motorsport confirmed on Tuesday that a major undertaking to bring Formula 1 racing back to South Africa is underway, with ambitious plans for a Grand Prix set to unfold at what has been dubbed the Best City in the World: Cape Town.
The proposed project, supported by both US funding and the Western Cape Government, aims to establish the Boundless Cape Town Grand Prix Circuit, a cutting-edge racetrack designed to cater not only to Formula 1 but also to other high-octane motorsports. Planned as a greenfields venture, the circuit will accommodate a staggering 125,000 spectators, transforming the landscape of motorsport in the region.
Promising an unparalleled spectator experience, the multi-purpose circuit will boast certification from both the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) and the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM). More than just a racetrack, the Boundless Circuit is envisioned as part of a broader entertainment complex, which will include a community centre, retail areas, hospitality venues, and an amphitheatre for outdoor events and concerts.
Designed to enhance accessibility, the circuit will feature multiple entry points and ample parking, with facilities for RV and caravan camping to accommodate fans from all walks of life. Proposals are already advancing with Formula One Management (FOM), the regulatory body for MotoGP, and the Department of Sports, Arts and Culture in South Africa, underscoring the collaborative effort behind the scenes.
