This Saturday, 1 November, the picturesque Maynardville Gardens will transform into a vibrant tapestry of South African culture with the highly anticipated event, Heritage and Harmony. Under the expert direction of acclaimed director Basil Appollis, the production promises an evening filled with music, dance, and storytelling that showcases the rich heritage and unity of South Africa.

The celebrations will kick off with a lively cultural festival at 4 pm, setting the stage for a captivating night beginning at 6 pm. Hosted by the award-winning artist Jitsvinger (Quintin Goliath), audiences are invited on a joyful journey featuring the diverse rhythms and traditions that bring the nation together.

Event organiser Azhar Salie believes this event transcends mere performance, stating, “Heritage and Harmony is a living celebration of who we are as South Africans. From the young Rieldancers of Clanwilliam to Ahneesh Valodia’s Taare Dance Troupe, the show brings together the full spectrum of our shared heritage, culture, and artistry.”

Patrons can look forward to an impressive lineup of performances, which includes:

  • The evocative melodies of Professor Dizu Plaatjies and his marimba ensemble, who will join forces with Hilton Schilder’s Goema band.
  • Soul-stirring acts by accomplished artists such as Xoliswa Tom, Siphesihle Mdena, Bradley van Sitters, and the Joyful Harmonies Choir.
  • Electrifying displays from Culture Shock’s Malay choir, Cape Minstrels, and gumboot dancers, along with the Figure of 8 Dance Collective and award-winning break dancers from Mitchells Plain.

As the sun sets and stars begin to twinkle, the evening’s emotional connections will deepen through music and movement, offering a collective experience of pride and joy. “Heritage and Harmony celebrates both tradition and innovation,” Salie adds. “It’s about pride, joy, and unity — and we can’t wait to share that spirit with everyone who joins us.”

Entry to this much-anticipated event is free, but tickets are limited and must be secured in advance through Quicket.co.za. Guests should be reminded that entry will only be permitted with a valid ticket, so prompt action is encouraged to avoid disappointment.

Join us at Maynardville Gardens for a night of music, magic, and movement to celebrate the soul of South Africa beneath the stars!
