On the upcoming evening, guests will be treated to a stellar performance from an impressive line-up of international artists, including the captivating soprano Lynelle Kenned, the powerful baritone William Berger, and the skilful pianist Stefan Lombard. They will be joined by accomplished violinist David Bester and cellist Dane Coetzee, together delivering a world-class show that promises to resonate with the audience through a selection of opera classics and Broadway hits.
The gala will not only feature exceptional entertainment but will also indulge attendees with fine culinary treats. Participants will sip on Colmant Cap Classique and savour exquisite canapés, masterfully crafted by the culinary team at La Cotte Farm and served by the Academy’s graduates. These canapés are a testament to the skills acquired by the students, who are eager to showcase their training.

Founded in 2018, the Franschhoek Hospitality Academy has made a remarkable impact in the Cape Winelands by offering education and training to historically disadvantaged youth. Its vision to transform lives through opportunity is reflected in the impressive statistics: over 500 students have completed the programme, which boasts a staggering 96% employment rate. In stark contrast to the national youth unemployment rate, which exceeds 50%, the Academy equips students with vital skills, confidence, and valuable experience, enabling them to thrive in one of South Africa's most vital sectors.
Several graduates have found success working in prestigious establishments throughout South Africa and Europe, with 16 alumni currently enriching their skills in Austria. The Academy’s collaborations with esteemed partners, including the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Institute of Tourism Management (ITM), Austria, further enhance its reach and effectiveness, offering students unparalleled opportunities in the hospitality field.
Through a diverse network of donors, community partnerships, and dynamic events like Sunset Arias, the Academy continues to strive towards its mission of fostering successful futures for local youth. The funds raised through initiatives such as this gala are essential for supporting the education of students, who contribute to the costs themselves, reflecting their ambition and determination for gainful employment. Sponsorship of R2,500 per month per student can help pave the way for a life-changing journey.
As the sun sets over Franschhoek, come make a difference in the lives of aspiring hospitality professionals while enjoying an evening filled with music, food, and community spirit. Join hands with the Franschhoek Hospitality Academy to create lasting change.
