It’s time for the much anticipated Weekend Argus Women’s Wellness Experience, and if you don’t have your ticket by now, you’re about to miss out on one of the Cape’s most informative and social gatherings.

With cream of the crop keynote speakers on the list, the event takes place at the President Hotel on September 28, and it is set to be a dazzling affair where all things health and wellness will be served.
One of the special women on the infotainment list is Leslie Erasmus from Leslie’s Mobile Beauty Bar.
Erasmus told Weekend Argus that the beauty bug bit when she was still a little girl trying out her grandmother’s make-up.
“My make-up journey started when I started to use my grandmother's make-up when I was little. After completing high school, I knew that being a make-up artist was what I wanted to become.”
She shared a few tips and tricks of make-up and a few points that women need to note when applying it.
“I think the most common mistake people make is they do not prepare their skin properly before applying make-up. One needs to cleanse, tone and moisturise before the application.
“Oily skin: For this skin type, we want to use an oil control primer. This helps the make-up last longer and also creates a smooth finish on the skin.
“Dry skin: We want to make sure the skin is adequately moisturised. We do not want to use a heavy foundation or use too much powder as this will make the make-up look cakey and heavy. It is also best to avoid matte eyeshadows as this will emphasise the dryness.
“Sensitive skin: Look out for products that are hypo-allergenic and fragrance free. Mineral powders and blushers work well on sensitive skin. If the skin is dry and sensitive, opt for cream blushers.”
Erasmus who’s been running her businesses solely, has provides a mobile beauty service for the past 20 years.
Servicing up to five clients a day, Erasmus suggests that every woman’s handbag should consist of the most essential make-up product tool, a concealer.
“Definitely a concealer as this can be used to both hide imperfections as well as brighten up the area under the eyes. Other essential products include foundation, brow pencil/powder primer, setting spray.
“With so many skin care treatments available today, it is best to chat with a skin care therapist whether you are able to wear make-up or what the downtime on these treatments are as many of them can be invasive.
“If you're unsure about what make-up products to use, it is always best to consult with a make-up artist/consultant at the make-up counters. Good make-up products and good brushes go a long way.
Other speakers at the event include a medical doctor, sexual medicine and wellness expert, Dr Heather Blaylock; obstetrician and gynaecologist Dr Zethu Mtimkulu; and psychologist and life coach Dr Marelize Swart.
Attendees will enjoy a performance by Vertical Secrets Pole Dance Studio, interactive sessions, get to participate in a rejuvenating Pilates session, a make-up demonstration and a buffet lunch.
