A joint operational parade involving the South African Police Service, the South African National Defence Force and the City of Cape Town is currently underway at the SAPS Belhar Squadron ahead of the official deployment of SANDF members to support SAPS in crime prevention operations across gang-affected areas under Operation Prosper.

The parade forms part of final readiness preparations, showcasing personnel, equipment and tactical coordination, and reflects an integrated approach by law enforcement and security partners aimed at enhancing safety and tackling entrenched crime in the Western Cape.

The deployment follows President Cyril Ramaphosa’s announcement during the State of the Nation Address that SANDF troops would be sent to crime-ridden parts of Cape Town to bolster policing and combat gang violence.

Officials say Operation Prosper will see SANDF and SAPS working together in high-risk communities to strengthen visible policing, disrupt criminal networks, and restore safety, with the Belhar parade serving as a clear demonstration of readiness and coordination.
