In February, the Artscape Theatre is set to transform into a vibrant festival of music, dance, and storytelling that celebrates the remarkable talents of South Africa’s performing artists. From exhilarating choir performances to poignant dramas, this month promises an extraordinary line-up that is both an expression of local culture and a testament to resilience and unity.
One of the foremost highlights is the return of the Ndlovu Youth Choir to both Cape Town and Johannesburg in 2026. Renowned for their energetic performances, the choir will delight audiences with a lively new setlist featuring beloved tracks such as “Shosholoza,” “Pata Pata,” “Circle of Life,” and “Bohemian Rhapsody.” Each performance is infused with their signature uplifting style, encapsulating a powerful narrative of hope and a celebration of youthful South African talent — proudly local and world-class.

In a different yet equally impactful vein, the Hanover Park First Community Resource Centre presents a moving exploration of self-worth through their production that signifies a pivotal shift from survival to empowerment. Using dance, drama, and song, this compelling performance offers solace and strength to those who have endured similar struggles, echoing a message of hope, courage, and healing.
Reflecting on the loss of District Six and the rich cultural heritage of the area, From Hanover Street commemorates the forced removals that occurred sixty years ago. Running from 10–15 February, this landmark concert reunites the original stars of District Six: The Musical — including Jody Abrahams, Loukmaan Adams, Alistair Izobell, and Emo Adams. Their collaboration pays tribute to the enduring musical legacy of David Kramer and Taliep Petersen, showcasing a community’s resilience and artistic spirit in the face of apartheid's painful history.
The acclaimed production of The Lady Aoi also returns, offering six exclusive performances ahead of its international debut in Milan. Based on the work of Yukio Mishima, this haunting modern Noh drama mesmerises with its stark elegance and emotional intensity, inviting audiences into a timeless exploration of love, obsession, and the supernatural.
Choreographer Janni Younge, in collaboration with Jay Pather, will unveil Firebird, a reimagined interpretation of Stravinsky's legendary score. This production fuses puppetry and dance, tracking the journey of a young woman known as the Seeker, who strives to embrace her creative power amidst opposing forces, ultimately striving for full artistic expression.

Music lovers will savour the A Cappella Music Festival, which celebrates the art of vocal harmony by bringing together exceptional singers and beatboxers. This festival aims to inspire and unite communities, reinforcing Cape Town’s status as a thriving hub for vocal artistry and cultural exchange.
In another display of artistic excellence, South Africa's finest classical dancers will breathe life into Tchaikovsky’s enchanting score with a magical interpretation of the Nutcracker. Viewers will be swept away to a dreamlike realm filled with dancing snowflakes and the beloved Sugar Plum Fairy in this visually stunning and unforgettable experience.
Offering an introspective perspective on South African spirituality, the contemporary dance work Messiah channels emotional resilience through powerful movement and sound. Grounded in ancestral memory, it explores themes of identity, loss, and survival, celebrating the healing properties of dance in connecting people and communities.
Finally, the dance platform Resilience gathers guest companies, studios, and schools from across the Western Cape. This celebration of diverse movement disciplines emphasises cultural exchange and unity, bringing together young voices in a vibrant display of creativity and expression.
