Mowbray-based tennis star Siyolise Schultz is preparing for a massive career leap as she targets a move to Europe to jumpstart her professional career.
Schultz, 15, has established herself as one of the most promising young talents in the country.
She is currently ranked number six in the South African junior rankings, a position backed by serious performances on the court.
Earlier this year, she proved her capability on the international stage by defeating a Russian player, Alexandria Talina, who was ranked in the top 10 in the world in the under-16 category.
Her development has been a tight-knit family operation.
After spending five years at a traditional tennis academy where she felt unfulfilled, Schultz turned to her father, Simthandile Mantile, to take over as her full-time coach.
Under his guidance, the focus has shifted entirely to preparing her for the relentless demands of the international circuit.
The immediate goal is a breakthrough into the junior tournament at Roland Garros in June 2027.
Achieving this requires Schultz to break into the top 100 of the global junior rankings to secure an entry.
To secure the necessary ITF points, she is heading to Europe.
Elite tennis academies in Paris and Cologne have already shown keen interest in her talent.
Schultz and her father are scheduled to leave South Africa on June 10 for a training block at the MKG Tennis Akademie in Germany, followed by a series of high-level European ITF tournaments through August and September.
If the stint is successful, the plan is to relocate to Europe by September to face tougher global competition.
