Speaking to the Cape Argus sister publication, the Daily Voice, Matthee said: "I am taking a break from filmmaking, however, I am also offering free drama classes to acting enthusiasts who wish to challenge their skills in front of the camera.

"Young creative individuals recognise the importance of investing in casting agencies, where opportunities may be scarce and financially demanding, particularly regarding acting classes. This remains a crucial stepping stone for those eager to test their boundaries.”

As the former project manager of the non-profit and community-based film project called Touched By Style Community Arts Projects, he has established Red Moon Productions as a continuation of the previous initiative.

He adds: "Acting presents challenges but also has the ability to inspire and provoke thought. The classes will focus on building confidence, fostering teamwork, enhancing communication, and improving conversational skills.

"These classes cultivate the ability to understand others and enhance emotional intelligence."

Matthee plans to expand the project to other schools in the Cape Flats, giving more youngsters the opportunity to learn the craft of film and filmmaking with the intention of producing three short films in 2026.
