Following a dramatic performance, Bafana Bafana advanced to the Round of 16 of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.

The team secured second place in Group B after a 3-2 win over Zimbabwe on Monday, December 29. Their next match is set for Sunday, January 4, 2026.

The match against Zimbabwe saw Bafana Bafana score three goals through Tshepang Moremi, Lyle Foster and Oswin Appollis, who converted a late penalty.

Despite the victory, the team conceded two goals, highlighting areas for improvement in defence.

Commenting on the game, radio and television presenter Mo Flava wrote on social media: “All that matters is that we are in the R16. There are a few things to sort out, though.

"Defensive organisation and concentration in critical phases of the game coz conceded too easily today. But overall, more positive than negative. Let me know how you felt about the game.”

Fans shared their reactions in the comments.

One user wrote: “I nearly damaged the TV when we conceded the second goal, but you are right, what’s important is that we are through to the last 16.”

Another added: “It’s a win with lessons. The way we were sweating. I hope the team will apply the lessons.”

A third commented: “Was sitting at the edge of the seat, champ.”
