This festive season, Disney Africa is embracing the spirit of joy and giving with its most extensive holiday campaign, “Spark Joy This Holiday.”

The initiative aims to immerse fans in the enchanting world of Disney while supporting those in need through the special Disney Chari-tree initiative across malls nationwide.

As the festive season approaches, families can indulge in an array of beloved Disney stories through magical products, classic holiday films streaming on Disney+, and festive programming on Disney Channel and Disney Junior.

Luke Roberts, General Manager of Consumer Product Commercialisation for MENA and Africa, expressed excitement for the campaign, stating: “The holiday season is such a special time of year and Disney is using the power of its stories and characters to inspire joy and wonder in people all over the world.”

The launch of “Spark Joy This Holiday” marked a spectacular beginning with a vibrant fashion show featuring five of South Africa’s leading retailers: Ackermans, Jet, Pep, Mr Price, and Woolworths.

As models and influencers showcased the latest summer collections for the entire family, an unexpected appearance by Mickey Mouse illuminated the runway, creating a memorable experience and setting a festive tone for the season.

In keeping with its commitment to storytelling, Disney presents an all-new short film in collaboration with Academy Award® winner Taika Waititi, titled The Boy & The Octopus.

Available on YouTube, the animated short follows a child who bonds with an octopus that clings to him during a seaside holiday.

Upon returning home, the boy introduces his lively companion to the joys of land life, nurturing a friendship filled with love and adventure.

The narrative captures the essence of childhood moments and highlights the joy of exploration, with enchanting Easter eggs from classic Disney films like Moana, Lilo and Stitch, and Toy Story peppered throughout.

The “Spark Joy This Holiday” campaign also features stunning plushadorned Christmas “Chari-trees” in over 20 malls, a project proudly supported by FNB, PEP, and ToysRUs.

Shoppers are encouraged to contribute donations that will go towards the purchase of plush toys as part of a charitable initiative supporting Reach for a Dream, an organisation dedicated to bringing joy to children facing challenges.
